I bought skunk food from exotic nutrition but she wont eat it. She eats the grasshoppers and mealworms I've started raising along with other things. She is 7 months old and weighs 6#s so I think just right. She runs the house loose and goes poo on paper. Sleeps in several dark places till about 9 pm. Problem is she is so bonded with me that when I go to bed she will try and try to climb the mattress into my bed. Not to sleep but play all night. So I shut my door but she paws at the door and carpet an hour. I hate locking her in a spare bedroom. Any ideas? She's not fixed or descented as mo its illegal to own them. She was a rehab and can't be released. I got her at 2 weeks old. I read they are loners in wild but hard to believe since she's so loving and cuddly. Does anyone live in Iowa and have a vet that will descent?

Hopefully, someone from your area will jump in regarding Vets who descent.  At 7 months, descenting is more like an operation rather than a simple procedure.  Skunks should not eat processed foods with grains or GMOs so don't worry that she won't eat the Exotic Nutrition. She needs a meat-based diet and no less than 50% feeder insects. Freeze dried raw foods are a good choice and she will probably enjoy raw chicken necks.

Once she is an adult, she will likely sleep 20 plus hours a day and this won't be a problem. Adult skunks are the best to take naps or sleep with! Until then, you will have to confine her. She is obviously bonded and not easily convinced that you won't entertain her. You can try moving her meal time around and feeding her largest meal right before you go to bed. Most skunks like to sleep right after eating.

Thank you. Iowa is the closest state legal to own. She only likes cooked meat for some reason.she's picky. She likes beets but that's the only veggie she likes I've found. Raisins are only fruit. Have tried everything. Is stomp available again? I wish more people would post about their skunks

Raisins and grapes have caused kidney failure in skunks and are not safe to feed. Yes, I have Stomp, both chicken and duck.

It is important to find some kind of feeder insects for her. the nutrition in them cannot be replaced by any supplement. She will have bone, joint or dental problems without them.

The price depends on the quantity.

How many kibbles do you feed a day? How big is the $14.99. Want to make sure she will eat it and just starting do you think duck or chicken is best? Thank you for the help

Chicken is more popular than duck. The bag is 6oz and the portion depends on size/activity level. 1 bag is 6 to 10 days of food.
