I am the proud slave to Skunkie, a 1 and 1/2 yr old girl who has owned me since she was a tiny kit. She is spayed but not de-scented, lives a spoiled free range house skunk life and, of course, sleeps with us, goes on bug hunting walks outside with us and is extremely good at telling us exactly what she wants, when she wants it 😂

I was blessed when she became part of the family... she has the sweetest personality Ive ever known. She LOVES anyone she meets, and is unfazed by almost everything, she even happily consents to nail trimming, teeth brushing, ear rubs and whatever else

She is my best friend ♡

I don't think there's much else that is as wonderful as skunks are

Skunkie is beautiful! She must be pretty mellow to allow tooth brushing. I have not been successful at persuading any of mine to allow that!

She is EXTREMELY mellow and good natured! I'm constantly surprised by her perfect temperament! She doesn't know the meaning of the word stranger or danger... she even loves seeing her vets! I kept waiting for the terrible teen stage but I think somehow we missed all that ♡

Of course she IS still bossy and likes to push you, grab pants/blankets/sleeves, or nip you (softly) if she thinks you need to scoot over, sit down and provide her a lap to nap in or if you arent quick enough to give her belly scratches and your undivided attention 😂

Lucky you! As you can tell, it is pretty easy to spoil them when they are convinced the world revolves around them. I like the ones who are communicators. It is usually easier to tell when something goes wrong as they let you know.

Maria, I agree it's nice when they are so good at telling you exactly what they want... and she definitely is!
She caught a flu type bug from us last year and I knew immediately the first day she started feeling yucky because of a subtle change in how she was acting. It really helped me to help her right away so she recovered quickly without becoming too sick

Good job! It's weird how skunks catch upper respiratory illnesses so easily from humans. Here, it's the ones who sleep with us that catch it.
